Richlyn were approached by The University of Sheffield who wanted to develop a new website. The NOGG (National Osteoporosis Guideline Group) website would interact with their existing FRAX (Fracture Risk Assessment) tool and plot results onto a number of graphs. In addition the FRAX tool itself needed to be altered to interact with the new NOGG website.
The FRAX tool was developed by the World Health Organization and evaluates fracture risk of patients. It is based on individual patient models that incorporate the risks associated with clinical risk factors as well as bone mineral density (BMD) at the femoral neck. The results from the tool are a 10 year probability of hip fracture and major osteoporotic fracture.
NOGG was established to address the need to integrate the output from FRAX with current clinical management of osteoporosis including the need to define thresholds for BMD measurement and treatment.
